From a Mulch Yard to a Full-Service Landscaping Company

Tom’s Mulch began in 1983 when Tom Grothjan opened a small mulch and topsoil yard in Bellbrook. One of his regular customers was Judd Powell, who owned a local landscape maintenance business. Their shared values and commitment to quality laid the foundation for a lasting friendship.

Years later, Judd had the opportunity to purchase the business. Guided by the same core principles and a vision for growth, he expanded it into what is now known as Tom’s Mulch & Landscaping.

Today, the company provides premium mulch products and services, along with full-service landscape design and installation, hardscaping, landscape maintenance, and commercial snow services. Through every stage of growth, our mission has remained the same. We focus on providing dependable service, building lasting relationships, and delivering results that make a meaningful impact in the Bellbrook, Dayton, and Centerville areas.
